The MBNA Chester Marathon returns on Sunday 11 October 2026, inviting runners to take on one of the UK's most highly regarded marathons. Now in its 16th edition, the event has earned a reputation for outstanding organisation, enthusiastic support and a course that offers something few other marathons can match by crossing the border between England and Wales.

Starting and finishing in the historic city of Chester, the 26.2 mile route heads through the surrounding Cheshire and North Wales countryside before returning to the city centre. The gently rolling road course combines picturesque villages, open rural landscapes and warm community support, creating a memorable experience from start to finish.

The MBNA Chester Marathon is the fifth largest marathon in the UK and has been named the UK's Best Marathon on three occasions. It is also an Abbott World Marathon Majors Age Group World Championships qualifying race and hosts a qualifier for the England Athletics Age Group Masters Marathon Championship, making it an attractive option for both competitive runners and those chasing a personal challenge.
