Ultra Good Idea
Scotland's Golf Coast is calling for this springtime ultra race...
Looking to step up from marathon distance in 2023? Why not head to Scotland's Golf Coast for one of the country's best-loved ultras - The John Muir Way 50K which will make a return to a springtime date (18 March) after autumn outings in recent years.
Participants will get the chance to run past championship links courses on the way to the birthplace of John Muir - who was a leading light in the enjoyment of outdoor pursuits. Organisers comment: "Enjoy the mix of surfaces on an event that can be seen by many as their step into the endurance world of ultra running."
This event was the first race of its type on Scotland's East Coast and it provides runners with mile upon mile of stunning coastal stretches, rural landscape and woodland trails. The John Muir Way winds through East Lothian's coastlines and rural trails passing a number of historic towns and villages including Aberlady, Gullane and North Berwick.
There are already plenty of ultra fans signed up for the event with Fiona Rennie commenting on Facebook: "Happy to see it's back to a spring date, I haven't managed to do it since 2017, it's a bonny route, and that's me entered."
If you'd like to join Fiona you can find out more at the The John Muir Way 50K website.
