Time for a south coast adventure?
Following the success of their first guided run of summer 2019, the Running Forever team is looking forward to the 1066 Trail Adventure (a 32 miles trip over two days) on 6-7 July and Saxon Shore Adventure (39 miles/ 2 days) on 28-29 September.
Running Forever is the venture of well-known running expert and qualified coach Sam Murphy – author of three bestselling running books and a columnist for Runner’s World magazine – and her husband, accomplished runner and coach Jeff Pyrah.
Running Forever offers a range of services, including weekend training retreats based at large country houses and boutique hotels, one- and two-day point-to-point running adventures, guided runs, educational workshops and online bespoke coaching.
The team is encouraged by their 'excursion' to Beachy Head on Sunday 16 June and a beautiful day on the downs – 20.2 miles and 3189 feet of climb fuelled by scones, giant crumpets, pretzels and jelly babies!
Sam Murphy told runABC South: ‘Our adventures are best viewed as great days out or weekends away with running as the mode of travel rather than as training sessions, but that doesn’t mean they’re not gratifyingly challenging. We break each day’s distance down into manageable chunks with scheduled stops for lunch, tea, cake or even a cheeky beer!’
All the adventures are based in East Sussex and Kent – easily accessible by train or car from London - and routes are either loops or point-to-point, so you’ll always find something new to look at as you clock up the miles.
"One thing all our handpicked routes have in common is stunning scenery to enjoy, be it coastal cliffs or ancient woodland, rolling countryside or picturesque historic villages," added Sam.
Every Running Forever adventure has qualified, experienced coaches on hand to offer moral and practical support and tips on anything from trail technique to tackling hills, navigation to nutrition. They provide vehicle support for bag carriage, water top-up, refreshments, changes of kit - or even a lift to the next meeting point if you’re flagging. Numbers are limited for safety and sociability.
