Runner climbing in the Snowdonia Trail Marathon

Snowdonia Trail Marathon postponed for community reasons

Snowdonia Trail Marathon postponed to 2021 following an appeal from the local community

Almost but not quite for the organisers of the 2020 Snowdonia Trail Marathon who have made the decision to cancel their event in 2020 after an appeal from the local community. This is a disappointment for many people who were looking forward to challenging themselves via a choice of distances on stunning trails that included a climb up Snowdon.

Safety is of prime importance to the organiserss and every effort was made to deliver a Covid-19 secure race that was enjoyable and environmentally-friendly with the minimum of disruption. Always Aim High Events were been keeping a close eye on the situation and providing regular updates to entrants and other interested parties.

As with any event, Always Aim High entered into discussions with relevant authorities including local communities and were confident of hosting a safe event that would meet all the requirements and to everyone’s satisfaction. Support from local businesses and residents - as well as competitors – play an important part especially during the current crisis and in planning for the future.

It was looking like all systems go for the Trail Marathon in October but the local community thought otherwise and as a result of this the organisers admitted defeat and postponed the event. Runners understood and supported this decision, seeing it as a sensible move in the present circumstances and recognising the mountains will still be there in 2021.

Snowdonia Trail Marathon is scheduled for the new date of 11 July 2021.

All is not lost however as Always Aim High Events are planning a Virtual Trail Marathon for October this year that will give runners something to focus on.
