The prolific Steve Edwards produced another sub 3:30 time and said: "A successful 820th marathon in 3:25:48. First time I've ran this superb event, went for sub 3:20 but underestimated the testing scenic course so had to really dig in over the final 8 miles for a 743rd sub 3:30."

A day earlier, hundreds of youngsters took part in the Thistles Great Stirling Family Run held as part of a family-friendly fun day in Kings Park, where the marathon and half marathon finished on Sunday.
