Salisbury Cathedral from Harnham Water Meadow

Historic Venue For Salisbury Marafun

Brand new event from ReesLeisure to add to the autumn calendar

Salisbury is a cathedral city of timeless beauty that has been welcoming travellers since 1227. Salisbury Cathedral holds the best preserved of the four original Magna Carta manuscripts and the world's oldest clock! Gathered around the Cathedral is a modern medieval city that is full of superb historic buildings, all crafted with the care of another age.

This stunning mix of ancient and modern, with cityscape and countryside views, provides the setting for a brand-new and exciting event for the autumn calendar. The Trethowans Salisbury Marafun on Sunday 8 October 2023 will feature a mass participation half marathon with up to 224 metres of elevation, plus a one-mile Fun Run, and both enjoy a city centre start and finish.

Early bookers can request a free training plan from ReesLeisure and may receive a discount on their entry fee. Everyone can opt to enter with or without a finisher's T-shirt but all runners will be awarded the inaugural event commemorative medal on completion of their race. ReesLeisure is the driving force behind ABP Southampton Marathon; Winchester Marafun and a host of sailing, cycling and triathlon events for juniors, beginners and elite performers.

Trethowans Salisbury Marafun is a new venue and a new venture for the ReesLeisure team. Salisbury certainly is a city steeped in history. The modern city is over 800 years old, having moved to its present location from Old Sarum, one of the most historically important settlements in southern England, with some parts believed to date back to 400 BC!

The dramatic spire of Salisbury Cathedral, standing at 404 feet/123 metres, has been the tallest in England since the late 16th Century. And this grand edifice will form the backdrop to the Trethowans Salisbury Marafun, along with the impressive Salisbury Guildhall and the quintessential English countryside.

To secure your entry and receive your free training plan visit the Trethowans Salisbury Marafun website.
