Run Gatwick aeroplane arms

New Gatwick Run Way

Revised format for Run Gatwick races with new 5K charity relay

Get ready to practice your best aeroplane arms for the finish line at the Run Series promoted Run Gatwick 10K and 5K Charity Relay on Sunday 21 May 2023. The revised format for this year sees the race programme trimmed, a later start at 11:00am, and a brand new route that gets runners closer than ever to the action, running beside the planes as they take off and land!

Run Gatwick 10K and 5K Charity Relay will again be based at Gatwick Aviation Museum (RH6 0BT) and all finishers will receive the fabulous aviation-themed medal. The fast, flat course for the 10K takes runners inside the restricted perimeter road along the full stretch of the runway.

The 5K Charity Relay is run in pairs with an exciting exchange point right at the end of the runway on the perimeter road – an exhilarating spot to hand over to your running buddy. Everyone can enjoy the Event Village with great food and drink; on-site parking; mass warm-up; resident MC at the finish; entertainment on the route; FREE runner photos; pace runners; chip timing and live results.

Entry fees are £25 for the 10K until 10 May 2023 when a late entry surcharge of £2 will apply. The 5K Charity Relay is free to enter courtesy of Gatwick Airport but each pair of runners must commit to fundraising a combined minimum amount of £150 for The Magic Breakfast, providing healthy school meals to children at risk of hunger in disadvantaged areas of Crawley and West Sussex.

Last year 2,500 competitors flew around the course at the British Airways Run Gatwick races and the winners of the Gatwick 10K were Ayoub Saji (32:33) and Imogen Amos (Tonbridge, 36:09) while the fastest in the non-relay Gatwick 5K were Ben Short (Personify Fitness, 15:53) and Stephanie Shaw (Crawley, 18:05).

Why not bring the family and make a day of it by booking a tour of the Aviation Museum. Museum bookings can be made at the point of registration, just choose and book your tour time for a great discounted price. The museum offers a unique collection of aircraft and engines from the golden age of British aircraft manufacturing. It also traces and celebrates Gatwick Airport, including the history of the many commercial airlines that operated from here and its development into the second-largest international airport in the UK.
