Testing Yourself In Naseby
Test yourself over this unique distance in the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside...
The Naseby 1645 road race is set to return on 15 February 2026, offering runners a go at this distinctive and demanding test through the Northamptonshire countryside. A firm favourite that sells out year after year, the event covers 16.45 miles, a nod to the year of the historic Battle of Naseby.
The route takes participants past seven memorials and viewpoints linked to the 1645 battle, blending local history with a challenging endurance effort. Starting and finishing at Naseby Village Hall, the course follows quiet rural roads, many of which will be closed to traffic on race day. The route remains the same as in 2025 and is known for its undulating profile, with a total ascent of 289 metres, making it a test of both strength and stamina.
Organisers promise a unique distance experience, with few comparable races in the region. They comment: "Our event is perfectly timed for those building mileage ahead of spring marathons, the race has become a key date in many runners’ training calendars."
Water stations will be positioned at regular points along the course, including around miles three, six, nine and 13.5, as well as at the finish. Trophies will be awarded to the first three male and female finishers, and every runner who crosses the line will receive a specially commissioned Naseby 1645 medal.
The 2026 race will support the Bruce Green Foundation, with a proportion of every entry fee going directly to the charity. Founded in 2018, the foundation works with young people across Northamptonshire who face social inequalities due to limited access to education, healthcare and mental health support.
