Party Time At Ponton Plod

Help Notfast Running Club celebrate their fourth decade at this year's Ponton Plod...

The Ponton Plod returns on 6 September with a special celebration as its organiser, Notfast Running Club, marks its 40th anniversary year. A little younger than four decades, now in its 17th year, the Lincolnshire event invites runners to take on a scenic charity challenge from Great Ponton Village Centre near Grantham.

As always, participants can choose from distances of 10K, 12 miles, 17 miles or the full 26.4 miles, all completed at their own pace along a mix of footpaths, bridleways, tracks and quiet country roads. The routes wind through picturesque villages and rolling countryside on the edge of the Vale of Belvoir, offering beautiful views and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that has become a hallmark of the Ponton Plod.

Organisers say: "Our races are open to all abilities, this event has built a loyal following thanks to its welcoming marshals and delicious checkpoint treats!"

Indeed, food is a major part of the day, with checkpoints stocked with homemade treats to keep participants fuelled along the way. At the finish, entrants can look forward to hearty savoury dishes and the event’s legendary puddings, all included in the entry fee.

To mark the club’s milestone birthday, finishers will also be treated to celebratory birthday cake and organisers promise that there will be a few extra surprises too, with spot prizes promised for the first, 40th and 140th people to enter, provided they make it to the start line on the day!
