New Trail 10K For Happy Valley

Happy Valley Trail Races return in 2023, with the addition of a 10K distance...

The Happy Valley Trail Half Marathon was established in 2022 and after a successful inaugural outing organisers, Bollington Harriers, have announced that a 10K will join the event programme for 2023.

Scheduled for 14 May, this trail event sees participants running through the hills and valleys surrounding Bollington in Cheshire. With a total of 770m of ascent, the challenging route starts and finishes in Bollington and includes an ascent of White Nancy, Kerridge Ridge and Sponds Hill.

The half marathon will see runners take on an immediate ascent up to Kerridge Ridge from Adelphi Mill and after making their way over to Harrop Woods, they will need to summon some 'grit and determination' to climb all the way up to the wilds of Sponds Hill.

Organisers take up the route description: "Bollington soon comes back in to view as you head south, but don't be deceived! The descent back in to the Happy Valley has one more little surprise in store as you make a sharp upwards to visit our beloved White Nancy, following which it's a quick trip past the quarries to race HQ."

With a 10K now on the programme, organisers are excited to bring the beautiful route to a wider range of runners - it may be a shorter distance, but the 10K has the same start and end as the half marathon and includes 390m of total ascent including White Nancy and Kerridge Ridge.

Both races provide runners with varied terrain and gorgeous views. You can expect a mixture of farmland, rocky descents and beautiful woodland and if the views themselves aren't reward enough - all finishers will receive a bespoke wooden medal and refreshments!
