Homecoming for Race Director as Wild Night Run Series visits Surrey

The six-event Wild Night Run Series by Wild Running is now in its 11th year and includes a new South East venue on Saturday 28th January 2023. Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking in the Surrey Hills AONB is something of a homecoming for Race Director Ceri Rees, from Newcastle upon Tyne, who was born in Richmond of parents who were married in Guildford.

Wild Night Run Series is traditionally based in the South West but the superb facilities at Denbies and attractive routes that can be used simply had to be added. Dark Skies Surrey Hills at Denbies includes trail races at 10 miles, 10K and 5K, plus Kids races for children aged 3-7 and 8-12 years.

Wild Running was started in 2012 by former elite distance runner, rugby player, journalist and adventurer Ceri Rees. The company now offers guided trail runs, specialist coaching, training camps, navigation training and running adventures in the UK and Europe as well as a growing portfolio of trail races and swim/run events.

England's largest wine estate will host the third race in this year’s Wild Night Run Series that spans Devon, Somerset and Surrey. Hundreds of trail runners will set off for a thrilling night trail race at their chosen distance through the vineyards, wooded valleys, and farmer's fields.

All runners at Dark Skies Surrey Hills at Denbies will be making donations to the Dorking Area Food Bank. For every entry, Wild Running will contribute a Clive’s Pie towards the Food Bank. To increase the donations and keep entry fees low, medals are an optional extra but people can order one on registration for £3. Technical Wild Running race vests will also be on sale and must be pre-ordered on registration.

Dark Skies Surrey Hills is a runABC South featured event and details are at the event listing here
