runABC is in the process of upgrading and improving its online service so you might encounter the odd glitch over the next week or so but rest assured we’re working on them and the new site will be a fantastic resource for our running community.

Three runners in the shadow of the Humber Bridge

Hull Marathon

22 September will see the return of Hull Marathon.

Starting on the famous Humber Bridge, runners will cross out and back on the closed southbound Bridge deck and then head into Hessle town square. With less than five miles covered the route is then fast and flat.

As you head east runners take in a lap of the Costello Athletics Track and try out the KCOM Ultrafast 100, before heading through Peter Pan Park and down to Pickering Park and the first relay change.

You then head over Hessle Road flyover and past the Boulevard fountain to go out and back to West Park and the KCOM Stadium. The half way point is at the south end of Boulevard on Goulton St just before runners enter Albert Dock where they pass a number of ships.

The route takes in Hull Marina, passes Spurn Light Ship, along Humber Street and the iconic 'Dead Bod' in Humber Street Gallery, music at stage@thedock and into the city centre which includes the King Billy Statue, Hull Minster, Zebedee’s Yard, Beverley Gate, Queen Victoria Square, the Three Ships Mural, Queen’s Gardens, the Wilberforce Memorial, Drypool Bridge, Land of Green Ginger and Ye Olde White Harte Pub.

Crossing into East Hull in the shadow of the Tidal Barrier, the route circumnavigates The Deep, passes through Victoria Dock, and the third relay changeover point, before passing The Blade at Siemens. Then it's an out and back along the Sculpture Trial before heading for Garden Village and a lap of East Park to finish.

Alongside all this will be artwork commissioned for the event and local musicians keeping you entertained. With so much going on you’ll soon find those 26.2 miles disappearing.
