The Friendly 10K

A 10K with a friendly, welcoming feel is set to return to Cheshire this spring...

If you're after a friendly, welcoming 10K this spring then the High Legh Robert Memorial 10K is a race that ticks both those boxes! With an enviable reputation among runners in the Cheshire area (and further afield), this is a must-do early season event.

Taking place on 12 March, the 10K race route follows the lanes and roads around High Legh, in Cheshire. From High Legh Primary school the route loops around a small residential area (including the road named Robert Moffat). It then follows generally flat leafy Cheshire lanes with only a few rolling sections. The final 1K follows the B5159 until the final turn, for the finish line at the village school.

Organisers comment: "Our race has a fantastic reputation as being friendly to runners of all abilities as well as spectators. And although early March might be a bit chilly, you can be sure of a warm welcome from the whole of High Legh."

This warm welcome, has resulted in the race receiving numerous accolades with The Guardian listing the 10K in their round up of the 20 ‘Best running events for beginners, improvers and adventurous types’ in 2017.

Other comments on social media go along the lines of: 'Small friendly race, well-organised with a scenic route and good facilities for runners and spectators' and 'a community spirited, professionally organised, 10K country lane road race'.

If you're keen to sign up, then make sure you do it pronto - as the deadline for adding a race t-shirt to your entry is imminent, organisers say: "Unlike many other races our fabulous technical t-shirts are available to order free for all our registered runners. To be sure of yours, you need to register before Thursday 2 February."

So, if you are keen visit the High Legh 10K website.
