Time not on their ands at Vernon's Limp Wrist Race

Be right on time and win at Vernon’s Limp Wrist Race

There are prizes for the 10 best guesses at this watch-free run.

There’ll be no clock watching on New Year’s Day at Vernon’s Limp Wrist Race (Sunday 1 January) as instead, participants will aim to run as close to their predicted finishing time. Get it right and be in the prizes followed by a celebratory drink...

If you have had a few too many shandies from seeing in the New Year then here is the perfect hangover cure - a 5 mile race where you estimate how long it will take you to run it. Sounds easy enough; however, you are not allowed to wear a timepiece. So leave the Garmin/Polar/Suunto/Casio at home and run with a bare wrist.

The race is organised by Stafford Harriers in memory of Vernon Olivant and Mike Jones with all proceeds going to Katherine House Hospice. Open to runners near and far, their friends, families etc, it is something a bit different race-wise and enjoyable too.

Major road works in the area meant a change of route and the organisers have come up with a new course and the Race HQ at Stafford Rugby Club. Runners are advised to allow sufficient time to get to the start in Castlefields which also acts as the finish. The race begins at 11.15am.

The first 10 people who finish closest to their predicted run time will each receive a cash prize. This is an event where anyone could be a winner

The prize presentation will be held at 1pm in the Rugby Club with a full bar and refreshments.

For more information and how to enter, visit the Stafford Harriers website.
