Old Salt Or Beginner – All Are Welcome
An atmosphere like no other is promised for the 33rd Great South Run...
The AJ Bell Great South Run has been a highlight of the autumn calendar for 32 years and the 33rd edition is ready to hit the impressively broad boulevards of Southsea and the historic streets of Portsmouth on Sunday 15 October 2023.
This is easily the South Coast's biggest running event and one of the biggest and best in the UK, with more than 20,000 people expected to participate in the Great South Run weekend that also includes the AJ Bell Great South 5K and AJ Bell Junior & Mini Great South Run on Saturday 14 October.
Entries are still available for all events from £19 to £46 according to age and distance and all events include the renowned Great Run experience for both competitors and support crew.
The spectacular start and finish is on Clarence Esplanade, Southsea, where the salty sea air sets you up for an exhilarating tour of the Historic Dockyard, HMS Victory, and Southsea Castle, along with breathtaking views of the Isle of Wight.
Among the Great Run touches that help to make AJ Bell Great South Run one of the world's favourite 10-milers is the traffic-free course that includes so many breathtaking views and iconic landmarks with stunning running at every turn.
Great Run also promises 'an atmosphere like no other' with music, live bands, incredible local support, and charity cheer squads lining the route to keep legs pumping and smiles on faces. A finish line party is another essential element with a DJ at the Après Run zone providing great music to accompany the food and drink stalls to help you refuel.
A shiny medal, snazzy t-shirt, and finisher’s bag filled with goodies will await you at the end of your run. This year, all finishers will have their medals hung around their necks as an exciting new addition to the finish line experience.
Of course, for many runners, taking part in the AJ Bell Great South Run is an opportunity to raise money for charity. Expect motivational cheering from charity zones and lots of people fundraising for important causes – many in the most extraordinary running outfits!
