Getting cracking at the Pendock Spring Chicken Run

Run, chicken, run

This community event has a race for everyone young and not-so-young.

Be an Early Bird and enter the Pendock Spring Chicken Run (Sunday 26 March) and support the local primary school. Run 10K, 5K or 1K on a multi-terrain route and receive an egg-cellent medal in return.

It’s the end of January and Easter eggs are in the shops as retailers plan for the next seasonal occasion. Do the same and enter a themed event with a delightfully challenging course and an inclusive ethos in the Worcestershire countryside.

Get into the spirit by wearing fancy dress – chicken costumes are particularly welcome although any outfit is acceptable. Make sure you can run in it as there is a steep hill which participants in the 10K run twice!

There are three distances to choose from: a two lap 10K which is open to entrants aged 15 upwards and starts at 11am; a single lap 5K which also starts at 11am where under 9’s must be accompanied by an adult; and a 1K Fun Run for very young children (under 9’s). The Fun Run begins at 10.30am.

The rural, multi-terrain course is on mildly undulating roads and farm tracks and includes a climb where, from the top (if the weather is decent), runners will see across the Malvern Hills. The ascent is followed by a descent and a chance to spin the legs on the way back to School Lane and on to the finish.

There are Easter inspired prizes for the male and female winners of the 10K, 5K and 1K; medals and goodies for all finishers.

Race t-shirts can be purchased at time of entry and are available in spring colours of yellow or green. All profits from the sale of these go towards Pendock CE Primary School along with proceeds from the event.

Entry fees will rise on 1 February so shake a leg (or tail feather) and sign up at the Pendock Spring Chicken Run website.
