Two Castles 10K promises a storming good run
Who will be crowned King and Queen this year?
There’s no ballot this year for the Two Castles Run (Sunday 11 June) so entrants are advised to register sooner rather than later to avoid missing out on the fun. Expect a picturesque, challenging course between the two strongholds and plenty of good cheer along the way.
It’s the 39th year of the Two Castles Run, a popular and well organised event from the Rotary Club of Kenilworth, Kenilworth Runners and Leamington Cycling and Athletic Club (Leamington C & AC). All proceeds from the race go to charitable causes.
The race begins at 9am from Warwick Castle – built in the 11th century by William the Conqueror - and continues on quiet country roads to the finish at Kenilworth Castle – which dates back to the 12th century. Very few 10K’s (if indeed any) go from one castle to another and it’s for this reason that people sign up each year. Plus the fact the route is held on quiet country roads in beautiful countryside which includes a few hills but nothing extreme.
Locals lend their support, applauding runners as they pass whilst offering words of encouragement and there’ll be more applause from spectators, friends and family at the finish.
Prizes include the first three men and women; first three male and female juniors (15-20 years); first three male and female masters 35-44, over 45 and over 55: male and female oldest finishers and top three teams.
All finishers will be given a medal, t-shirt and goody bag at the end.
Callum Hanlon of Leamington C & AC won the 2022 race in 32:00; Julie Emmerson of Coventry Godiva Harriers was the women’s winner in 36:18. Will they defend their titles?
Anyone still deciding whether to enter... more than a third of places have been sold and the rest are likely to go quickly. Sign up (taking advantage of the Early Bird pricing) at the Two Castles Run website.
