North Lincs Half Speeds Back To Success
A memorable day for runners at a perfect half marathon and 10K.
A cliché but true: team work made the dream work for more than 2,000 runners at the North Lincolnshire Half Marathon & 10K (Sunday 5 March) which bounced back after a three-year break. A memorable day from start to finish...
It was ‘thumbs up’ all round for the North Lincs Half & 10K from Tape2Tape Events that delivered on all levels for all the runners. Friendly, well organised and open to everyone where attention to detail was second to none and satisfaction guaranteed. There was even a virtual option for anyone unable to attend.
The event was also a qualifier for England Masters.
The 10K started at 9am followed by the Half Marathon at 9.40am with races held on a fast and flat course that was made for a PB. A crack team of pacers was on hand to help people achieve their individual goals and the ‘wheely good’ LincsQuad Cycle Club kept everyone safe and moving to the end at Quibell Park Stadium.
Their support along with that shown by the marshals, other volunteers and supporters was appreciated by many. It was described as “awesome” by one happy finisher.
Daniel Haworth of Matlock AC won the Half Marathon in 1:06:56. William Strangeway of Lincoln Wellington AC was second in 1:07:12 with Simon Birch of Hinckley RC not far behind, finishing third in 1:07:19.
Sarah Kemshall of St Theresa’s AC was the women’s winner in 1:16:59. Abbie Pearse of Steel City Striders RC came second in 1:18:48 and Sarah-Louise Hunter of Ackworth RR third in 1:19:34.
For the 10K, Elliott Stones was the winner in 31:30; Abbey Van Dijk of Derby AC the female winner in 37:25.

As finishers crossed the line they received a medal, cupcake and a bottle of water as a reward for their efforts.
The organisers raised a glass to everyone involved in making it a first rate event, thanking them for their support and contribution. And to the runners: “You all rock!”
Why not do it all again next year. Early Bird entries are open for the 2024 North Lincolnshire Half Marathon & 10K at the Tape2Tape Events website.
