Wilmslow Festive 10K

Places going fast for Wilmslow Festive 10K

With just under one month until race day (Sunday 25 November) the Wilmslow Festive 10K is already approaching sell-out and organisers are encouraging prospective entrants to move fast. The Run North West event is only three years old but has sold out each time and even had to double the entry capacity for 2017 to keep up with demand.

A recent post from organisers revealed permission to increase registrations for this year from the Emerson Group and Royal London to utilise their private car parks. More than 3000 entries have already been received.

Race founder Andrew Whittingham told runABC North more: “We have been delighted by how popular the Wilmslow Festive 10K has become. Participants love the festive feel and the mix of town centre and countryside location. We hope to exceed 3500 entries and depending on parking permissions we may be able to accept even more entries!”

Starting in Wilmslow town centre then heading out into the surrounding countryside, the point-to-point course moves out of Wilmslow, along Knutsford Road before heading back round to Burleyhurst Lane and finishing on Mobberly Road.

In addition to kickstarting the festive feel for those taking part, the Wilmslow Festive 10K offers a fantastic opportunity for a late season PB. 2017 saw a series of extremely quick times, including a second successive victory for Cardiff's Matthew Clowes, who defended his title with victory in 29:46. Blackburn Harriers' Ben Fish took second in 30:35 and Chris Arthur third (30:54).

Clayton-Le-Moors' Laura Hesketh set a PB of 34:28 en route to victory in the women's competition, with Katy Hedgethorne (34:45) and Gemma Connolly (35:52) in second and third respectively.
