The Forest Park Ladies 5K returns to Birchwood Forest Park in Warrington on Wednesday 1 July 2026, bringing back one of the North West’s longest established women only races with a 7:30pm evening start on the parkland course. First staged in 1993, the race continues to attract runners of all abilities from across the region.

The accurately measured 5K route follows mostly traffic free paths through Birchwood Brook Park and Forest Park, with just a small amount of road running and only two gentle climbs approaching footbridges. Its flat and accessible layout makes it suitable for runners chasing a fast time as well as those taking on a first organised race.

The event has become a well established fixture in the North West running calendar thanks to its welcoming atmosphere and strong community feel. Many runners return year after year, often bringing family and friends to enjoy the relaxed post race atmosphere and picnic setting around the park.

Entries are now open online with a race limit of 300 runners and strong demand expected ahead of race day. Prizes are awarded to the leading finishers, veteran categories and teams, while the popular post race spot prize draw adds to the event’s friendly atmosphere.

The race is organised by Spectrum Striders, the Warrington based running club established in 1983 which has built a strong reputation for delivering inclusive and community focused races across Cheshire. Alongside the Forest Park Ladies 5K, the club organises several popular local events and continues to play an important role in supporting grassroots running in the region.

With its welcoming environment, scenic parkland setting and long standing local reputation, the Forest Park Ladies 5K remains one of the North West’s most popular and accessible women only races.
