The newly laid world-class MONDO track will host 43 Athletics and 16 Para Athletics medal events over 12 sessions, starting at 10:00am and 6:30pm daily. Temporary grandstands have been installed to extend the permanent stadium capacity of 4,765 to 11,000 spectators.

Innovations for Glasgow 2026 include the full integration of Para Athletics events into the main Athletics programme, thereby increasing the chances of witnessing world records.
Glasgow 2026 will also see the return of the Mile to a major championships athletics programme, the first time since 1966 in the Commonwealth Games. It is a distance that captures the imagination like few others in the sporting world. Its unique history, spectacular performances, and iconic races have made it one of the most revered events in athletics; a symbol of athletic excellence.
As the only non-metric event officially recognised by World Athletics for world records and rankings, the Mile remains a distance that athletes around the world still vie for one of the sport’s most historic achievements – the sub-four-minute mile – now almost within the compass of the world's best female athletes!
Talking about the innovative idea, World Athletics President Sebastian Coe said, “The magic of the Mile continues to resonate with sports fans. A ticket to watch its Commonwealth final will be one of the must-have seats in Glasgow 2026.”
