Pick Up A Place For Preston!

Entry deadline date is fast approaching for the Porsche Centre Preston 10 Mile…

You'll need to be quick off the mark if you want to bag a spot at this year's Porsche Centre Preston 10 Mile Road Race as entries for the 20 November event close at midnight this Sunday (13 November).

Organised by Preston Harriers and returning for its 40th outing, the Lancashire classic will once again stage a triple dose of championships, most notably the Northern Athletics 10 Mile Champs, but also the Lancashire County and Fire Service 10 Mile Champs. This will ensure that the 10 miler will be as competitive as ever, over the years the race has seen the likes of Helen Clitheroe and Roger Brewster line up.

The race is steeped in history and in its heyday would see fields of up to 1,000 with runners required to break the 60 minute barrier just to make the top 100. Whilst those days may be gone, the race has continued to attract some of the best runners from the across the North of England with last year's race won in 50:53 by Harry Wakefield of Salford Harriers.

Established in 1981, the Preston Harriers 10 Mile Road Race has become a major feature in the race calendar. Starting at Tolsey Drive, close to Hutton Grammar School, the race follows a two lap course to finish at Hutton Village Hall; fast and flat it attracts many runners looking for that elusive PB!

Speaking about the 2022 outing, organisers have commented: "This year’s race is sponsored by Porsche Centre Preston and is already shaping up to be a fast one with the men's race featuring a number of sub 34 minute 10K runners, most notably Ross Millington of Stockport Harriers and Adam Craig of Invercylde AC.

"Whilst the women's race currently appears more open, runners will need to break the hour mark to pick up the big prizes with Becky Penty of York Knavesmire Harriers and Laura Hesketh of Clayton Harriers among the early favourites."
