Entries open Sunday for a 'Devilla' of a good race

Runners hoping to take part in the Devilla Forest 15k and Devilla Forest 5k trail races had better set their alarms for early Sunday evening.

Entries open for the popular Fife events at 9pm (16 December) – and judging from previous years, they won’t last long.

The Devilla Forest Trail Races are organised by the Carnegie Harriers Running Club.

Club President, Steven Honeyman, told runABC Scotland: “Both the 15k and 5k races attract runners from all over Scotland, and have become more and more popular every year.

“For the previous three years, the 15k has sold out all 500 available places within an hour.”

This year’s events will be held at 11am on Sunday, 17 February.

As in previous years, both races will take place in Devilla Forest, starting and finishing within the grounds of the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan, Kincardine.

The 15k route follows a relatively flat anti-clockwise loop of Devilla Forest, taking in a mix of fire-roads, paths and single track. The route skirts three lochs and goes through a variety of sheltered woodland.

The 5k route follows a similarly flattish anti-clockwise loop around the Moor Loch.

Both events will be chip-timed, and there will be excellent changing facilities and plenty of parking on site – as well as generous prizes in all age categories.

Entry to both events can only be made online via EntryCentral from Sunday night. The minimum age to take part in the 15k is 17, and 13 for the 5k.
