Trails, Hills and Cake
This Northamptonshire trail event has two distances on offer as well as WI-standard home baking...
Run on trails across the beautiful countryside surrounding Clipston in Northamptonshire at this year's Clipston Trail Races. A race date of 22 September is planned and there's a couple of options for runners as the event once again includes half marathon and 5-mile (ish) distances.
The half marathon course starts opposite the pavilion in Clipston and immediately sets off uphill into the countryside. Runners will traverse bridleways with short sections on minor country roads while the final section from Kelmarsh back to Clipston is on a footpath. During the run those taking part will be treated to some great views of the Northamptonshire countryside and the total height gained is 237m.
The 5-mile race is a great introduction to trail running or just something a little shorter. It has the same start location as the half marathon and will also see runners take off immediately uphill into the countryside.
There are medals for all finishers and even better....homemade cake courtesy of Alison Morley and Clipston WI - the perfect end to a tough and enjoyable day’s racing.
The event is organised in conjunction with the Clipston Recreation Field Trust which is a charity that has owned the playing fields at Clipston since the early ‘80s and is responsible for their maintenance and development. These fields are used for tennis and football and alll proceeds from the races go towards maintenance and development of the facilities.
