Chocks away for the virtual Hurricane 80K
Nice Work have unveiled their virtual Hurricane 80K Challenge to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. Your mission is to run, walk, swim or cycle 80K in 80 days, submit your log and be awarded a celebratory medal. The challenge starts on 21 April...
The Hurricane and Spitfire fighter aircraft played an important part in the Battle of Britain in the summer and autumn of 1940. They helped to defeat the Luftwaffe causing Adolf Hitler to abandon his plans to invade England. Both aircraft were pivotal in this victory yet the Hurricane’s role is often overlooked compared to the Spitfire and organisers Nice Work wanted to redress that hence this challenge.
This is a virtual event where participants have to complete 80K in 80 days beginning on 21 April and ending on 10 July. The 10 July 1940 was the start of the Battle of Britain.
In recognition of the contribution made by overseas pilots in the Second World War, this challenge is open to anyone, anywhere in the world. Sign up, download the log sheet, complete 80K then return the log to the organisers who will send out the exclusive medal. There is the option to buy a souvenir T-shirt that will be delivered along with the medal.
Safety is paramount. The organisers stress that whilst exercise is important and this challenge will provide that (and motivation if you are flagging!), continue to follow government guidelines on social distancing.
