Cheadle 4 Road Race 2023

Keeping Cheadle Running Since 1977

Race number 10 in this year's NSRRA programme...

1977 was quite a year especially in the United Kingdom as we enjoyed Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee and Star Wars opened in cinemas across the country. We lost a rock ’n’ roll legend when Elvis Presley passed and we marvelled at the first commercial flight of Concorde but by far the most significant event of 1977 was the inaugural Cheadle 4 Road Race!

Race number 10 in the North Staffordshire Road Runners Association (NSRRA) 2023 programme, the Cheadle 4 Road Race will take place on Sunday 9 July starting from Tean Road Recreation Ground. From the Rec it heads down Tean Rd to Mobberley, before the challenging climb to Freehay after which runners enjoy the quick descent down Rakeway Road as they head back to the start/finish area on the recreation ground.

The main race starts at 10:30 but there is also a junior fun run which starts at 10:00. Entry cost is very reasonable at £15 (£13 affiliated) and you can enter both races right here. There are the usual prizes for race winners and age group winners but all participants will also receive a ‘Titanic’ memento. Last year's winners were Lee Gratton (Rugeley Runners) in a time of 20:22 with Kelly Butler (City of Stoke AC) the women's winner in a time of 25:32.

Cheadle Running Club are incredibly grateful to a number of local businesses who continue to support the race including the Raddle & BodyBank Gym, Cheadle Carpets and Stoddards Fuel who have all been long standing sponsors and their generosity in supporting this popular race is massively appreciated.
