Get Your 2026 Off To A Fast Start

Fast course and anniversary celebrations are on offer at this early season Stirlingshire 10K...

The Buchlyvie 10K is a popular Stirlingshire race and one which has become a key date in the winter running calendar. With the year end fast approaching there's not long to wait until its return on 24 January when it will once again offer runners an early season race with plenty to enjoy both on and off the course.

And the 2026 edition is a special one as the race celebrates its 20th anniversary. To mark the occasion, all entrants are invited to stay behind after the finish and enjoy tea and cake, adding to the friendly and welcoming atmosphere that has become a hallmark of the event. Organisers say: "This race is the biggest day of the year for our small local community and it is always boosted by strong support from volunteers and residents."

The Buchlyvie 10K is a trail race run on an out and back route, the race starts behind Buchlyvie Primary School and is on a predominantly flat fire track, making it an accessible and fast course. The halfway turnaround point is at Barbadoes Cottage on the railway line, where jelly babies and water are available. Organisers toldus: "With only one notable hill on the course, the race often produces personal best times when the weather cooperates, making it attractive to runners looking to test early season fitness!"

The 2025 race attracted close to 150 runners. The men’s race was won by Gregor Yates of Inverclyde AC in a time of 32:37, while the first woman home was Laura Lennon of Victoria Park City of Glasgow AC in 43:49.

After this year's race, refreshments and home baking will be available for sale in the hall, and Buchlyvie 10K beanies will also be on offer. All finishers will receive a biscuit, fruit, a medal and a goodie bag, with water provided.
