Go Big This Xmas!
Big Feat Events gift to you is 3 trail races,
Set in the suburbs and green spaces of Greater Manchester, where rural meets urban this festive event offers three different race distances that have each been designed to challenge runners and test their Xmas spirit to the max!
Back for its second year, this time on 18 December, the BigXmas Trail Races 11K, half marathon and marathon routes are all new for 2022, and organisers can't wait for you all to try them out! Each race will start and finish at Sale Water Park before runners head out on the trails taking in Chorlton Water Park and the River Mersey.
The longer marathon distance will follow the Trans Pennine Trail all the way to Little Bollington and return on the Bridgewater Canal. Routes will be fully marked and marshalled, making all of the races ideal for either beginners or seasoned runners.
For those who like some stats, in 2021 Nathan Muir won the marathon race in 3:24:41, while the first female was Sadie Besley in a time of 4:05:50. Mark Usher won the half marathon in 1:32:24 and Laurene Kellett was first female in 1:32:32, and third place overall! The 10K was won by Andrew Crossley in a time of 43:11 and first female was also the second placed overall runner, Holly McBride in a time of 47:19.
Speaking about their events, a spokesperson from Big Feat Events said: "At BigFeat Events, we put a lot of research into our routes and locations, believing that the mix of challenge and stunning scenery is a winning combination. All our races are held in the beautiful countryside which surrounds our towns and cities."
