Grounds for applause at Weston Park 10K
There was a fun and friendly atmosphere at a wet and muddy Weston Park 10K & 5K yesterday (Sunday 24 November) as runners went wild in the country. They even got the chance to enjoy the views.
There was a large turnout at the 6th Weston Park 10K & 5K that was slickly organised by Kickass Endurance and held in an attractive setting in Shropshire. The 17th century country house is situated in over 1,000 acres of parkland and a popular venue for weddings, conferences and events including this sold out 10K and 5K – the latter first introduced last year to great success.
The multi-terrain course consisted of concrete, tarmac and gravel paths along with small grass section that, thanks to the recent precipitation, was very muddy underfoot.
Ioan Huraban of Telford AC was in commanding form from the start of the 10K, racing across the line to win in 36:53. Pravesh Patel of Wolverhampton & Bilston AC was second in 37:45 followed by Richard Shaw in 38:42.
Michelle Fox of Stone MM was in winning mode – the first female in 44:03. There was another runner-up place for Wolverhampton & Bilston AC with Claire Denner finishing in 45:11. Leanne Turvey took third in 45:38.
In the 5K Craig Morris of Bridgnorth RC was the winner in 20:33 with Gregory Lawley second in 21:37 and Matthew Clarke third in 22:45.
Emma Aspin of Cleobury Mortimer RC was the winning lady in 27:47. Lindsey Fletcher was second in 29:10 and Amy Leaver third in 31:33.
There were prizes at the finish that included vouchers from T8 Run Wear and every finisher was presented with a medal and bottle of water.
