Cumbernauld 10K back for 2022

Family-friendly festival set for September return

Organisers of one Central Scotland’s most popular events are delighted to announce its return after a three-year break.

The 2022 Cumbernauld 10K will be held on Sunday, 11 September, with entries now open.

The event, delivered by the Active & Creative Communities department of North Lanarkshire Council, will be based at Broadwood Stadium.

The Cumbernauld 10K was named Scotland’s 10K of the year at the 2018 National Running Awards, beating out 20 other top events.

In addition to the ‘flat, fast and beginner friendly’ 10K, organisers will again be offering a 3K timed run for S1-S4 pupils, a 1K run for P5–P7 pupils, a 400m run for P1–P4 pupils and a toddler dash for children aged three to five.

Free, fun activities for all the community will also take place throughout the day, to encourage everyone to come along and support the runners.

Early bird prices will be in effect until 31 March, with online entries closing on 3 September. Organisers expect the event to sell out quickly, so advise early entry.

NLC jogscotland members also benefit from a 50% discount in the 10K.

The 2022 Cumbernauld 10K will run in partnership with North Lanarkshire Suicide Prevention, with donations collected at registration.

The last Cumbernauld 10K was held in 2019, with Jonathan Roebuck of Inverclyde AC taking the win (32.30). Alex McGaritty took second (34.18) and Graham Mccabe of Kirkintilloch Olympians (34.33) third. First lady home was Kristin Lownie (38.11) of PH Racing Club.
