Volunteers wanted at Hull Marathon

To mark National Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June), Hull Marathon & Relays are now registering for their volunteer team for the upcoming event on 22 September. A total of 500 volunteers are required for the race, which offers runners the opportunity to enjoy a course immersed in art, music and culture and is a real showcase for the city of Hull.

The upcoming staging will see some exciting changes for the race, with a new point-to-point route in place. The altered route is expected to be quicker with a spectacular start on the Humber Bridge in the shadow of the North tower. Runners will run out and back on the southbound bridge deck, then head into Hessle town square.

The second half of the course takes in the Marina, Humber Street, the city centre including passing the Three Ships Mural, through Victoria Dock and passes The Blade at Siemens and along part of the Sculpture Trail before returning to Garden Village and with a loop around East Park to the finish line.

Volunteers will marshal much of the course, supported by a team of stewards. There will also be volunteers on a range of duties such as event logistics, drink stations and providing music and entertainment.

Volunteer coordinator, Katie Atkins, commented: “We know that the race wouldn’t happen without the support of our incredible volunteers. Our mission is to ensure that anyone who volunteers for us has a rewarding, enjoyable and inspirational experience.”

You can sign up to become a volunteer here. Entries for the race are open.
