Vale of York 5M & 10M

Gliding The Miles

There's still time to enter one of the two distances on offer at the upcoming Vale of York event...

Runners chasing a PB should head to Rufforth on 30 March, where the Vale of York 5M & 10M races will take off once again. Starting from the York Gliding Centre runway, both events offer a fast, flat and traffic-free course through the picturesque North Yorkshire countryside.

The Vale of York 10 Mile has earned a reputation as one of the fastest and most popular races over this distance in Yorkshire. The route heads south from the start, passing through Healaugh, Catterton and Bilbrough before looping back to the finish. This really is a course designed for speed, perfect for those looking to shave time off their PB.

For runners who prefer a shorter challenge, the 5 Mile race follows an out-and-back route, covering 2.5 miles south before turning around and heading back. Organisers comment: "If you feel 10 miles is too much for you, then come and join us for 5 miles instead. Just as fast, just as flat, just as traffic-free and just as rural!"

Both races are chip-timed and runners will also receive a bespoke wooden medal, crafted in the UK to support local businesses while reducing environmental impact. As an added bonus, every finisher will be treated to chocolate and water at the finish line.

This is a must-run event for those looking for a quick, well-organised race in a beautiful rural setting. If you'd like to know more, visit the Vale of York 10M entry page.
