Ten Out Of Ten For Tadworth
Start 2026 on the right foot with a run in the time-honoured Tadworth Ten...
The Tadworth 10 has stood the test of time, and it still wins awards. The traditional New Year pipe opener, now in its 43rd edition, is on Sunday, 4th January 2026. Entries are still available and may be taken on the day, provided the event isn't over-subscribed.
This year's winners were defending champion Ben Short (Crawley AC, 58:55) and Gaby Carnwath (Herne Hill Harriers, 1:03:38) who finished seventh overall in a field of 384 runners.
Tadworth is now a tale of two tens, as a 10K option has been added. The winners over the shorter distance were Duncan Mallison (Reigate Priory AC, 43:21) and sixth-placed Meghann Trepant (unattached, 48:46).
If the times look slower than expected, that's easily explained. The Tadworth 10 is run on a scenic and challenging two-lap course, comprising 50% road and 50% tracks and grass. Hills are also a feature on the famous Epsom Downs, venue of the luxurious Race HQ in the Duchess Stand at Epsom Racecourse. The 10K option completes the first full lap, with a short loop back to the finish.
The course was altered for the 2014 race to avoid running on the increasingly busy road near Tattenham Corner. It allows the use of a common start and finish close to the Race HQ, thereby making better use of the grandstand’s excellent facilities – no portaloos, real flushing toilets here!
Host club Tadworth AC provides a warm and welcoming Race HQ; a Gold rated race ranked in the top 20 in the UK; over £1,400 in prize money; professional chip timing by Sports Systems; a free race photo; a sustainable wooden medal; post-race massage courtesy of LA Sports Massage Therapy, and donations to local charities including the Woodland Trust, The Sunnybank Trust and Epsom Wells Trust.
