Staggering Into The New Year
Entries are now open for what promises to be another memorable morning of racing through the scenic West Midlands countryside...
Organised by Stourbridge Running Club, the Stourbridge Stagger returns on 1 February 2026, setting off once again from Mary Stevens Park. This popular winter event is known for its tough but rewarding multi-terrain routes, drawing runners from across the West Midlands and beyond.
Participants can choose between the main 10.4-mile race or the shorter 7K option. The longer course crosses into Worcestershire before looping back through rolling countryside featuring grass, woodland trails and several challenging climbs and descents. The shorter route cuts out some of the off-road sections, making it an ideal entry point for those new to trail running.
The event has earned a reputation for being one of the most enjoyable and demanding races on the regional calendar. The course is well marshalled and, although February weather is often unpredictable, runners can expect mud, hills and plenty of character along the way.
Organisers say: "With its mix of hills, trails and winter conditions, the Stourbridge Stagger is a challenging yet perfect early-season test for those training towards spring events."
In 2025, 357 runners completed the 10-mile course, with Daniel Maskew of Wolverhampton & Bilston taking victory in 59:33. The first female finisher was Bambi Shaw in 1:12:01. The 7K event saw 113 finishers, with William Laye taking first place in 26:34 and Amelia Jones of Kidderminster & Stourport Harriers finishing as first female and third overall in 31:46.
