Hedgehog Half Marathon

This Half Is Pretty, Not Prickly!

There's still time to take part in this year's scenic Hedgehog Half...

If you are race fit and ready to do your bit for nature in North Lincolnshire then there are still some spots left for this year's Hedgehog Half Marathon which returns on Sunday 3 October with a pretty course on quiet country lanes and another cute medal up for grabs.

One of the most scenic half marathons in the UK, the race is an active supporter of Andrew’s Hedgehog Hospital with organisers keen to raise awareness of the plight of these vulnerable animals whilst fundraising for the local charity.

The race starts and finishes in the grounds of Normanby Hall and takes runners through pretty villages and countryside in North Lincolnshire. Organisers comment: "We know it’s 13.1 miles and will be a challenge but it's 100% the prettiest half marathon with views out to the Humber Bridge and across the river too."

There are some road closures and a traffic team to keep everyone moving whilst staying safe with signs and marshals as additional help. Runners stick to the left hand side of the road at all times.

The Half Marathon starts at 9am followed by the Junior Hoglet Mile at 9.30am which is for youngsters aged 5 to 11 and takes place within the Country Park. Children and adults are welcome to enter into the spirit of things and dress up in hedgehog outfits.

Half Marathon finishers get a slice of cake to go with their medal with sweets and water plus a medal for Junior Hoglet Mile runners. If you'd like to know more visit the Hedgehog Half Marathon website.
