RunTogether launches #RunAndTalk to support World Mental Health Day

RunTogether, the national running programme established by England Athletics in 2017, has launched #RunAndTalk in support of World Mental Health Day on 10 October 2018. There are more than 76,000 runners registered with almost 2,000 running groups but it is easy for anyone to get involved with #RunAnd Talk.

RunTogether invites everyone to #RunAndTalk to improve mental wellbeing by running with others and helping to break the stigma associated with mental health just by getting people talking about it. Simply get together with family, friends or colleagues to talk and run a mile or more between 6th and 12th October or join one of the organised RunTogether group runs through this link

Supported by mental health charity MIND the programme aims to encourage people experiencing mental health issues to share their experiences, raising awareness while enjoying healthy, physical activity with others through running together.

As part of the #RunAndTalk campaign RunTogether aims to establish an even wider network of volunteers, with the ambitious target to have a mental health champion in every affiliated club and RunTogether group in England, so people experiencing mental health problems can access the benefits of running with others in a fully supported way.

Volunteers for mental health champion roles will receive guidance and support from England Athletics/Run Together and more information about the role is available by emailing: disability@englandathletics.org

Running, talking and helping people. What could be simpler or more rewarding than that?
