Will You Run For The Trees?
Take on this February challenge and do your bit to leave a positive footprint on the planet...
As the novelty of New Year resolutions wears off why not choose to take part in 2024's Run For The Trees event? Back for a fourth year this is a fun, personal challenge that can be completed anywhere in the world and leaves a positive footprint on the planet.
Taking place throughout February, as 2024 is a leap year those signing up will actually get 29 days to complete the challenge rather than 28! Organisers, Peak Running, say: "This is a fun personal challenge that will keep you active during the cold, dark days of the shortest month. The more miles that are run, the more new trees will be planted in the National Forest. So it could be the most carbon positive event you’ll ever do."
There are four levels to choose from plus, for the very ambitious, the option of trying to achieve a Run-Forest Grand Slam. Each of the levels has a mileage target for runners to aim for during the 29 days of February which can be completed by running, walking or a mix of both.
There are also ten virtual races forming the Forest Race Series that runners can take part in as they accumulate their mileage. These virtual races can be completed from any location and organisers have mapped out some fantastic suggested routes in the National Forest that you can be used.
You also have the option to join guided events and all mileage clocked up when running solo or as part of the group events, count towards the total. Guided events will be free of charge for RFTT participants, though pre-booking is required.
It is worth noting that all entrants get an exclusive The Derby Runner discount - a 20% discount in-store with proof of entry. If you'd like to know more, visit the Run For The Trees entry page.
