New Distance For Quarry Bank Trail
Popular Cheshire trail race returns for 2023 with a new distance to boot...
You'd better be quick if you want to be a part of popular north west event, the Quarry Bank Trail Race, as organisers have announced there will only be a spring outing in 2023, rather than both spring and summer as in previous years. But what has been taken away in terms of frequency has been added to in distance, as it has also been announced that the race will increase from a 4.5 miler to a full 10K.
Entries are now open for the springtime event, which is set to take place on 23 May. Speaking about the new distance, organisers said: "Path improvement works mean we have permission to add the one mile loop to extend this fabulous course and the new section is flat!"
The race involves a one-lap course within the National Trust grounds of Quarry Bank Mill, the surrounding village, Styal Woods and a unique section that takes runners alongside Manchester Airport runway! The course is made up of undulating terrain, trail, grass, tarmac, gravel and steps which organisers stress you should 'make sure you save some energy in the legs for!'.
Whether you’re looking for a new challenge or a sociable jog in the fresh countryside air this is a fantastic option and one that plenty runners in the area are already fans of, organiser Run North West said: "This is our most popular event in terms of fast sell out returns as an annual 10K. Entries will go super quick, so enter now to avoid missing out."
The race also supports Quarry Bank Mill with £1 from every entry going to the National Trust property which is one of Britain's greatest industrial heritage sites.
