Fast Pace At Pulford

It's flat, it's fast and it's back this March...

Fast times are expected when the Pulford 10K returns on Sunday 22 March on the renowned loop through Pulford. With a reputation for speed and a field packed with in form competitors, organisers believe another memorable chapter is set to be written on the Magic Triangle.

The race takes place on the route widely known in running folklore as the Magic Triangle, a near equilateral circuit of just over a mile on each side that has developed a reputation as one of the quickest courses in the UK. The roads also formed the stage for Jake Smith’s memorable 2:11 marathon debut while pacing at the Cheshire Elite Marathon in 2021.

Organisers say: "The flat, flowing layout continues to attract competitive fields, although strict road closure conditions mean entry is limited to runners capable of completing 10K in under 50 minutes."

The event was previously staged as the Cheshire Elite 10K and retains its performance focused format, with cash prizes awarded to the top three open male and female finishers. All participants will receive refreshments at the finish along with a special edition medal shaped around the iconic triangular route.

Attention is already turning to the course records, with organisers noting that Beth Potter’s women’s mark of 31:15 currently appears secure (although that may change before race day), while the men’s best of 28:38, held by Logan Rees, is under threat from a strong field.

Clubs from both sides of the England Wales border are set to be well represented, with Buckley Runners expected to field the largest contingent. They will be joined by athletes from Vale Royal Athletic Club, West Cheshire AC, Wrexham Athletic Club and Shrewsbury AC.
