All Welcome In The People's Park
London Frontrunners prepare to host their 22nd Pride Run 10K...
Pride Month, celebrated in the UK and many parts of the world throughout June, is a vibrant and inclusive celebration that honours the LGBTQ+ community, their history, achievements, and ongoing struggle for equality. This annual event is also used as the launch pad for the Pride Run 10K, which will return to the beautiful Victoria Park in London for its 22nd hosting on Saturday, 20 September 2025.
Victoria Park, known colloquially as Vicky Park or The People’s Park, is London’s oldest public park, although not one of the eight Royal Parks. Opened in 1845 to benefit the East End working class, the Green Flag and Green Heritage award-winning park is the largest in Tower Hamlets, receiving over nine million visitors each year who enjoy a wide range of community activities, events, live music and sports.
Pride Run 10K is a not-for-profit run organised every year by a group of volunteers from London Frontrunners, an inclusive running club for lesbians, gay and bisexual men and women, transgender and gay-friendly people. The club was formed in 1995 as part of International Front Runners, a network of LGBTQ+ running clubs worldwide.
Typically, over 600 runners have competed in past Pride Run 10K races. The 2024 event saw just under 800 finish in 95 minutes. The winner was M40 Josselin Polini (Victoria Park Harriers & Tower Hamlets AC, 33:30), who put his local knowledge of the course to good use. Rebecca Pigott (London Heathside, 38:44) was the first female finisher.
Last year, there was some seriously fast running on show, as 40 runners beat 40 minutes; 275 went under 50 minutes, and nearly 600 beat the 60-minute barrier! The winning teams were the men of London Frontrunners and the women from Victoria Park Harriers.
A key element of Pride Run 10K is the unmissable after-party at the People's Park Tavern, where the post-run deal for a drink, burger and fries proved to be the hot ticket last year!
Pride Run 10K also raises funds for local charities. This year's charity partner is the Micro Rainbow International Foundation, working globally to help lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and intersex people achieve their full potential in life.
