One day left to take up challenge of Path of Condie Half

Just one day remains to sign up to a half marathon ‘with altitude and attitude’. The fifth Path of Condie Half-Marathon, organised by the Kinross Road Runners, will be held at 10.30am this Saturday, 17 August – in a change from its usual late October date.

The race, which starts just outside Milnathort, travels anti-clockwise along the ‘infamous route’ around the Path of Condie and then returns to the village. The route is well signposted, but is held on open, very quiet, public roads.

Race organisers call their event ‘one of the most rewarding distance runs in the area with frequently changing scenery and gradient’.

However, with a highest point of 1050ft, Kinross Road Runners recommend their event only for runners who like to push themselves. A challenging course and ‘not for the faint hearted’, the Path of Condie is also not recommended as a first half-marathon or to be treated as a ‘fun run’.

With that in mind, a strict three-hour time limit to complete the race is in place. Runners due to finish outside the time limit will have the option to continue at their own risk and not as part of the event, or to take the sweeper transport back to the finish.

The men’s course record has been held by Colin Somerville (PH Racing Club, 1.20.18) since 2016. Fife AC’s Sheena Logan set a new women’s record of 1.26.26 last year.

Entries close this Thursday, 15 August and can be made through Entry Central.
