New Running Festival For Stirling
Follow in the footsteps of legends at this new autumn running festival for Stirling...
A thrilling new running event is set to take over Stirling on 11 October this year, offering an unforgettable opportunity to race through Scotland’s most historic battlefields and breathtaking landscapes. The William Wallace Running Festival will showcase the very best of Stirling’s iconic landmarks, with routes passing by Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument, Bannockburn, Stirling Bridge and Cambuskenneth Abbey.
With four distances to choose from - 70K, 50K, 10K and a 1-mile fun run - there’s something for every level of runner. The ultra distances can be tackled solo or as part of a relay team, making it an epic endurance test or a team challenge.
The William Wallace 70K Ultra is the festival’s showpiece event, taking runners on a sweeping loop of Stirling’s historic and rugged terrain. Starting in the shadow of the Wallace Monument and winding through the Ochil Hills, the route will pass key historical sites, cross ancient battlefields and climb through the stunning Campsie Fells before finishing with a dramatic approach to Stirling Castle. The 50K Ultra offers a similar but slightly shorter adventure, cutting through many of the same legendary locations, ensuring runners experience the rich history of the land beneath their feet.
For those seeking a shorter challenge, the Braveheart 10K takes runners on a fast and flat out-and-back course, crossing Stirling Old Bridge - the site of the famous 1297 battle where William Wallace led Scotland to victory. The Wallace Warriors 1-mile fun run gives young runners a chance to race on the same legendary ground, creating their own heroic stories.
With dramatic scenery, historic landmarks and an electric atmosphere, the William Wallace Running Festival is set to become a must-do event for runners. Whether you’re aiming for ultra-endurance glory, a fast 10K or a fun family day out, this event promises an unforgettable experience.
