Cancer Research UK Race for Life has been helping to raise vital funds to fight cancer for over 30 years. Since the first event in Battersea Park in 1994, more than 10 million people have participated.

Over £970 million has been raised to date to fund life-changing cancer research, including the development of radiotherapy, which now helps more than 130,000 people with cancer in the UK every year. Can you help to push that total through the billion pounds barrier and beat cancer...?

Since those pioneering days the Race For Life programme has been expanded throughout the UK and the events extended well beyond the original 5K run/walk and all-female concept.

Race for Life now welcomes all genders, ages, and abilities, with hundreds of events and race distances of 3K, 5K, 10K, or the ever-popular Pretty Muddy 5K with challenging obstacles! There's even a Pretty Muddy Kids race for children over 1.2 metres tall and aged 6-12 years.

Every Race For Life and Pretty Muddy entry includes fundraising support, a customisable back sign, training plans, an opportunity to join the Race For Life Super Supporters Facebook group to keep you motivated, and the exclusive Race For Life 2025 medal for all finishers.

Everyone has their reason to join Race For Life. This is Adele's story: "I Race for Life because of my little sister, Lois. Within the space of two years, my Auntie Ann had lost our Uncle Phil to cancer and then had to go through it herself – without her husband. Lois wanted to do something in tribute to Auntie Ann and Uncle Phil and give back to the organisations that’d helped them. Without any training, she just got up one day and ran, driven by passion in her heart. Her determination inspired me to change my life – starting with walking, then eventually running.
