It's Ok To Run, And Talk
New running group in Leeds focuses on importance of running on mental health...
It's Ok To Run is a new project that has been developed and created by Leeds-based runner and mental health advocate, Joshua Birch. The weekly 5K will focus on mental health and the power of running.
Josh commented: "Through inspirational and personal experience I want to create an inclusive running club where anyone can feel welcome. We'll participate in a 5K run where pace and timing doesn't matter, using this time to talk freely about how we are feeling.
"There's no pressure to talk, those joining us can feel free to share as much or as little as they want. It's ok!"
Taking place at Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds on Tuesdays at 7pm, the initiative kicked off for the first time on 5 July when it was just Josh in attendance but word clearly got out in the intervening week as the second session on 12 July saw a few more faces join the running fun.
Afterwards Josh commented: "Great session, great chat, great company! It was amazing to get together with some new people and talk about everything and anything, whilst taking part in a steady 5K. Looking forward to next week already!"
If you'd like to join in next Tuesday then download the Spond app and use code DKABA to confirm your attendance. That's all you need to do, the run itself is free.
