Runners To Clock In For Towering Trails
They can look forward to a stunning route and 750ft of climbing.
The Clock Tower Trail Race makes its debut this Sunday (26 March) with a 5 mile challenging course which goes up and down the Worcestershire countryside. The Abberley Clock Tower will be a standout feature at this sold out race...
At 161 feet tall and views across six counties, the Abberley Clock Tower is a focal point of the event which is organised by Worcestershire Trailblazers in a spectacular part of the world. The hosts enjoy exploring their area and are keen to share this with others who will be rewarded with an eco-friendly, bespoke medal and free cake for their endeavours.
Abberley Hall School is the Race HQ and the location for the start and finish. Runners will be sent on their way at 11am to follow a course of which the majority is public rights of way trail apart from a one mile section on open roads. They’ll dig in at Walsgrove and Woodbury Hills, teeth gritted and blood pumping as they ascend these two mounds – not forgetting to have a much needed drink at the water station at the half way point.
The descents are equally steep so it’s important to stay focused and choose your line as you run downhill. Care also needs to be taken when twice crossing the B4202. Marshals and signage will keep everyone safe and on track.
Runners continue along the Worcestershire Way then onto the finish at Abberley Hall School in front of the famous clock tower. The tower is just made for a selfie or post-race photo!
There are trophies for the top three men and women and age category winners: a sustainable wooden medal, cake and fruit for every finisher and a real sense of achievement.
Proceeds from the race go to the Worcestershire Trailblazers and Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
The countdown is on to Sunday with 5 miles of trails to tackle and a good time to be had by all...
