Stepping Stones To A Marathon
Thinking of a marathon but not quite race ready? Nice Work has the answer in stages...
For anyone wanting to try a full marathon for the first time but not quite ready, or training for a 26-miler later in the year, Sussex-based race management company Nice Work has the perfect event – the Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend – a marathon in manageable stages!
Mid Sussex Marathon takes place at three separate venues over the Early May Bank Holiday weekend – Saturday 29 April, Sunday 30 April, and Bank Holiday Monday 1 May 2023. The marathon distance is achieved via three different races and positions are sorted on the basis of cumulative time. All finishers in the three-stage marathon receive the specially designed Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend medal.
The 12th Mid Sussex East Grinstead 10 mile on 29 April starts the series, followed by the Mid Sussex Haywards Heath 10 mile on 30 April and the concluding Mid Sussex Burgess Hill 10K on 1 May.
Of course, you can enter any one or two races but enter all three and you will receive a substantial discount and that commemorative finishers medal. At each race there will also be a Mid Sussex Mile race – with an unusual discount for parkrun registered entrants – and a Mid Sussex Fun Run to keep the kids involved.
The East Grinstead 10-mile course is described by Nice Work as: "A gloriously scenic race using an undulating trail and pathway course in the stunning Mid Sussex countryside around East Grinstead, using mainly traffic-free routes."
The Haywards Heath 10-mile route is similarly detailed in the race particulars, while the Burgess Hill 10K circuit is explained as: "It is primarily off road, following an undulating trail and pathway course in and around the town, using a traffic free route."
Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend is promoted by not-for-profit community interest company AHS Wellbeing and Simon Adby, MD AHS Wellbeing said: ‘’We are very excited to be organising this year's Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend and look forward to cheering on the runners and celebrating their success.’’
All the races are suitable for beginners and experienced club runners and entries are being taken now through the Nice Work website here.
