Marple Runners 10K Trail Returns This June
All the clues point to this summer 10K being a top day out...
It doesn't take an old lady detective in twinset and pearls to tell you that this Greater Manchester trail race is a jolly good day out. The Marple Runners 10K Trail Race is set for 18 June this year and it will be the sixth staging of this scenic trail race which takes in some of the parks, countryside and sights of Marple.
The multi terrain, mainly off-road, 10K race starts in Brabyns Park and utilises sections (not the muddy part) of the Marple parkrun course before leaving the park via the canal locks, taking back roads and trails via Marple Hall to Chadkirk. It then heads up 'that hill', before returning to Marple along the Peak Forest Canal, crossing the iconic Marple Aqueduct then finishing back at the start in Brabyns Park.
A previous entrant enthused: "With climbs and steep descents; twists and turns there was plenty to challenge the 250 or so runners. In return we were offered a scenic route along the country lanes of Chadkirk and the towpaths of the Peak Forest Canal.
"Friendly and vocally supportive marshals dotted the route. In fact, the organisation of the race as a whole seemed faultless."
Those entering the race will benefit from the race's famously supportive and cheerful marshals (all of whom are Marple Runners members), chip timing, a great medal as well as some fabulous goodies. There will also be free race photos from two professional photographers.
