Croc Ready To Rock
Steps, stiles and smiles as the 8 mile race returns after a three year absence.
On Sunday 28 May the hills, paths and trails will be alive with the sound of music (and movement) at the 23rd Crocodile 8. This multi-terrain race has a bite to it in the form of a steep climb but there’ll be plenty of entertainment along the way to keep runners going to the end.
Wye Valley Runners are delighted to be organising the Crocodile 8 race again which is a favourite event for many people due to the course, live music and the post-race party which has become an occasion not to be missed!
This race is 8.8 miles - an unusual distance - on a course which is a mixture of trails, woodland, paths and tarmac which circles around the villages of Burghill and Tillington showcasing the best of the Herefordshire countryside.
Equally unusual is the 3pm start time.
There has been mud in previous years which increases the difficulty level so it's fingers crossed for a dry spring day. The route includes a climb up a set of steps or the crocodile’s back for runners to sink their teeth into and let out a huge sigh of relief on reaching the top. Then it’s onwards and upwards to the finish.
Runners can expect melodic support from musicians such as Sax in the Park at various points on the course. Ideal for helping you to maintain your rhythm...
There are prizes in the usual categories and a free technical t-shirt for every finisher thanks to sponsor Clear Storage.
The fun continues at the after-event party at Burghill Community Academy and the chance to recover after 8.8 miles. Eat, drink and compare notes about the course!
Entries are open for the Crocodile 8 race via the ‘Events’ page on the Wye Valley Runners website. The page also contains more information about the race.
