Entries Open For Keswick Half
One of the country's most scenic half marathons has opened for entries...
Those who like to have plans in the diary well into the year can delight in the fact that entries have opened for one of England's most aesthetically pleasing half marathons. Keswick Half Marathon, set to take place on 24 September, is a real 'people pleaser' thanks to its gorgeous setting and friendly vibe and would make for a fantastic autumn goal.
Said to be one of the most scenic half marathons in the country, the challenging course takes runners around Derwentwater with an extra loop into the Newlands Valley. The fun isn't exclusively for adults as there are also a couple of fun runs planned for younger runners to join in with the race action too - a 1200m for ages 15 and under and a 400m for those aged 11 and under.
Commenting on Facebook to announce the opening of entries, organisers said: "Whether you're a fun runner, club runner, running for charity, a first-timer, an old timer or running out of excuses not to enter, registration is now open for this year's race!"
Previous entrant Hayley Bond enthused: "Such a great and friendly event, thanks to all who gave their time to supporting this brilliant race." And Kerrie Gosling agreed: "Will definitely be running it again! It was a great event. Thank you to all the volunteers and organisers."
Organisers added: "One of the comments that we never get bored of hearing is how great our marshals are. The event is staffed by a huge team of volunteers from the rugby club and the local community and we’re often told that it’s their enthusiastic encouragement and smiles that get the runners around the course!
"If the running doesn’t take your breath away, the elevated views of Derwentwater certainly will!"
Set up by Keswick Rugby Club in order to raise funds for the club and to help operate a successful rugby program developing all age groups with good coaching and necessary equipment, this year organisers are hoping that money generated will go toward improving the club house and grounds as well as the on-field game.
