Inverness Half Runner

Highland Half An Ideal Goal

Champs set to return to Inverness this spring, will you be joining them?

Get your 2024 off to a flying start by signing up to the Inverness Half Marathon and 5K on 10 March! The race, now in its 39th year, will host the Scottish half marathon championships on 10 March, and with North District medals up for grabs as well, organisers are hoping for another exciting day of top class running action in Inverness.

Last year the female course record was broken for the first time in 16 years by 18-year old Natasha Phillips from Dundee Hawkhill Harriers in a time of 1:11:56; a remarkable achievement given that she had only taken up running during lockdown.

The half marathon is the perfect early season race for those needing training motivation through the winter months and is also a great sharpener for anyone planning a spring marathon. The route has great PB potential following a flat and scenic course through the streets of the Highland capital and alongside the River Ness.

For runners looking for a shorter distance, there’s also a 5K which is great for first timers as well those looking to smash their PB. Every runner is treated like a champion with fantastic support along the race routes and an enthusiastic welcome at the finish line from the crowds who line the running track at Queens Park Stadium.

Malcolm Sutherland, race director, said: “We are delighted to be hosting the Scottish Half Marathon Championships and North District Championships again as part of this year’s Inverness Half Marathon, this really adds a buzz to the day."

A review from a 2023 participant stated: "I would recommend this race 100% to everyone looking for a race that will motivate them all through the winter and inspire them for the rest of the race season.”
